New MTV series to feature musical match-ups
MTV has teamed up with candy company Maynards (makers of Gummie Bears, Cherry Blasters and Wine Gums) to create an online dating show that gets viewers involved in matchmaking. Date My Playlist, scheduled for launch in April, will ask viewers to submit playlists of their favourite videos, music and TV content.
Contestants on the show will use their musical knowledge and pop culture sensibilities to scrutinize three prospective partners by reviewing their submitted playlists. Potential dates are screened based on what's revealed by their music video choices.
The resulting submissions will be used to produce eight original, 10-minute episodes featuring Maynards branding and product integration. MTV will promote the initiative on-air, online and through Bell Canada's mobile services.
From April 2-22, contestants can enter the Date My Playlist contest via the microsite www.MTV.ca/playlist.
