Idol, established crime dominate
BBM/Nielsen Top 30 - Jan. 21-27

Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+; all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen, for Jan. 21-27.

News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm climbed four spots to #5 with an average minute audience of 1.623 million viewers (up from 1.589 million on the previous week's national chart). The net's Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm stayed at #15 with 1.235 million (up from 1.228 million), but that was only for its Tuesday and Friday airings. Global National at 5:30 pm fell one spot to #28 with 976,000 (up from 944,000), while News Hour at 6 pm hit #29 with 954,000 viewers.

Monday: CTV's Corner Gas at 8 pm won the night, climbing six spots to #14 with 1.265 million (up from 1.163 million) against Global's Prison Break, which fell one spot to #19 with 1.182 million (down from 1.183 million). CTV's Medium at 10 pm hit #17 with 1.206 million, while the net's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at 9 pm fell eight spots to #25 with 1.034 million (down from 1.199 million).

Tuesday: CTV's American Idol at 8 pm stayed at #1 with 3.006 million (down from 3.036 million) against CBC's Rick Mercer Report, which hit #13 with 1.275 million, and Global's NCIS, which fell 17 spots to #27 with 1.003 million (down from 1.431 million). CTV's Law & Order at 9 pm hit #7 with 1.52 million, while Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm fell three spots to #9 with 1.453 million (down from 1.898 million). Global's House at 9 pm climbed 11 spots to #12 with 1.334 million (up from 1.032 million). CBC's This Hour has 22 Minutes at 8:30 pm hit #30 with 939,000 viewers.

Wednesday: CTV dominated the night with no competition on the chart. American Idol at 8 pm stayed at #2 with 2.534 million (down from 2.753 million). Criminal Minds at 9 pm hit #3 with 2.225 million. CSI: New York at 10 pm hit #4 with 1.942 million. The net's The Moment of Truth at 7 pm hit #21 with 1.125 million viewers.

Thursday: CTV's CSI at 9 pm climbed two spots to #6 with 1.547 million (down from 1.786 million) against Global's Celebrity Apprentice, which fell 10 spots to #23 with 1.114 million (down from 1.361 million). CTV's Without a Trace at 10 pm climbed six spots to #8 with 1.479 million (up from 1.302 million), while CSI: New York delivered the 8 pm time slot, hitting #11 with 1.343 million viewers.

Friday: CTV's Ghost Whisperer at 8 pm was the only show to make the chart. It fell three spots to #22 with 1.123 million viewers (down from 1.174 million).

Saturday: CTV's Evening News (Saturday and Sunday average) climbed five spots to #16 with 1.221 million (up from 1.144 million). CBC's NHL All-Star Skills, airing 7-10:05 pm, took #26 with 1.03 million viewers (down from Hockey Night in Canada's 1.201 million).

Sunday: CTV's Law & Order: CI at 8 pm hit #10 with 1.407 million viewers (down from the 2.038 million delivered by the previous week's Amazing Race in that time slot). Global's The Simpsons at 8:30 pm hit #18 with 1.205 million, and took #24 at 8 pm with 1.073 million. CBC's NHL All-Star Game, airing 6-10:05 pm, hit #20 with 1.163 million.
