CTV announces Oscars coverage details
CTVglobemedia has announced the details of this month's Oscars broadcast coverage. The net's lined up 10 hours of Oscar-related programming for Sunday alone. Hosted by Jon Stewart, the 80th annual Academy Awards airs Sunday, Feb. 24 at 8:30 pm ET.
Last year's broadcast of the 79th Annual Academy Awards on CTV peaked at almost six million viewers and reached 10.6 million Canadians, making it the most-watched television program of the year in Canada.
Starting tonight at 7 pm, eTalk charts the "Road to the Oscars." CTV's Ben Mulroney and Fashion Television host Jeanne Beker cover Oscars Red Carpet, with Tanya Kim and Elaine "Lainey" Lui reporting from a second exclusive position. Additional Oscar programming is featured on Star!, FashionTelevisionChannel, MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic while Canada AM, CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson, CTV Local News, CTV Newsnet, CP24 and CTV.ca will all deliver ongoing Oscars coverage. On Sunday at 2:30 pm, CTV will air six back-to-back half-hour eTalk Oscar specials. The 2:30 pm eTalk FashionTelevision special will also air Friday, Feb. 22 at 8:30 pm ET on FashionTelevisionChannel. CTV will follow it with eTalk Oscar Special: I Met the Walrus at 3 pm (also airing Thursday, Feb. 21 at 9:30 p.m. ET on Star!); eTalk Oscar Special - Hollywood's It Movie: Juno at 3:30 pm (also airs Saturday, Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. ET on Star!); eTalk Oscar Special: Hollywood's It Girl: Ellen Page at 4 pm (also airs Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on Star!); eTalk Oscar Special: Canada Goes to the Oscars at 4:30 pm; eTalk Oscar Special: Best of the Red Carpet at 5 pm (also airs Sunday, Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. ET on Star!); and the official red carpet pre-show, eTalk at the Oscars, at 6:30 pm. The Barbara Walters Special airs 7 pm ET on CTV
The full, two-hour eTalk at the Oscars airs live on Star! and The CTV Broadband Network at CTV.ca beginning at 6 pm ET. The Oscars red carpet show, hosted by Regis Philbin, with co-hosts Samantha Harris (Dancing with the Stars) and Shaun Robinson (Access Hollywood), airs at 8 pm.
I Met the Walrus, the Canadian production that is a 2008 Oscar contender for Best Animated Short Film gets its world television premiere immediately following the Academy Awards broadcast on CTV and on Bravo! on Friday, Feb. 29 at 7:30 pm ET/4:30 pm PT.
On Monday, Feb. 25, Canada AM will cover highlights at 6 am. eTalk at 7 pm will air post-awards coverage.
