More to debut French edition

Concurrent with the magazine's triumphant first-anniversary celebrations last week, Transcontinental Media announced that its More title plans to build on positive reaction among readers and advertisers by launching a French-language edition this fall.

More, which originated in the US and is aimed at women aged 40+, caught on so well during its first year in Canada that subscriptions doubled initial projections, reaching more than 80,000 per issue.

"With the success of More in Canada, we confirmed we had a magazine that neither our readers nor our advertisers had ever seen before, and they were hungry for it," says Transcontinental's senior VP of consumer magazines Francine Tremblay. "More speaks to a unique niche, and it's obvious to us that niche exists among French-speaking women as well."

More's Quebec edition will be headed by Sylvie Poirier, who will leave her current position as editor in chief of Elle Quebec.
