CTVglobemedia's CHUM Radio is moving 92 CJCH AM in Halifax to 101.3 on the FM dial. The station's new format went live at 10 am today. As a result of the changes, the station will no longer be airing oldies music or the call-in talk show Hotline.
The new Top 40 format will be known to the Halifax airwaves as 101.3 THE BOUNCE, and it aims to serve Halifax's youth market with promotions, live events, local info and interactive and engaging on-air personalities. The station is launching with three weeks of commercial-free music. Program director Rob Basile says the station will be "100% committed to delivering the hottest hit music. With the latest songs from top artists like Usher, Nelly Furtado and Timbaland, we'll be the go-to destination for hit music."
CHUM Radio Halifax acting GM Trent McGrath is thanking 92 CJCH AM listeners for their support over the years. "We'd also like to salute the Hotline program for its longstanding service to this community," he says. "It is always hard to say goodbye, but now is the time to focus on the long-term success of this station."
CHUM Radio also owns and operates C100FM in Halifax. CHUM operates 35 radio stations in 16 markets throughout Canada.
