Sun TV extends signal, announces fall sked
In September, Toronto-HQ'd Sun TV will add over-the-air transmitters in Ottawa and London, allowing the channel to reach 83% of Ontario households.
Sun TV's fall schedule will comprise 11 hours of US network simulcasts per week, including returning favorites, series that are new to Sun and local productions. "We are staying true to our strategy of consistent growth with prime-time simulcasts, creative fringe programming and a late-night lineup of comedy and movies," explains programming GM Don Gaudet. The result, he adds, is "something for everyone throughout the day."
Returning shows include 60 Minutes, 48 Hours Mystery, Dateline NBC, One Tree Hill, The Game, George Lopez, Scrubs, America's Funniest Home Videos, plus afternoon classic blocks featuring The Incredible Hulk, Beachcombers, Danger Bay, Columbo, McCloud and McMillan & Wife.
New to Sun TV's prime-time sked are Smallville, Season 8, Supernatural, Season 4, and syndicated strip Becker, starring Ted Danson as a cranky New York doctor.
New daytime programming includes People's Court weekdays at 11 am and A-Team weekdays at 3 pm. As well, late-night's Comics Unleashed starring Byron Allen returns, and Sun will continue airing action flicks on Thursday and Friday nights.
In-house productions, created with the channel's convergence partners at Sun Media, will resume this fall. Canoe Live breaks down the day's events to provide analysis, debate and commentary. The Casino Rama Grill Room will continue to deliver daily, high-energy talk about sports, with irreverent opinions from expert panelists. And every weekend, Inside Jam! will offer humourous round-ups from the world of entertainment.
