Canwest puts CoolTV on ice
Canwest is shutting down CoolTV, and will pull the plug on the jazz-centric cable channel next month, shortly before what would have been its fifth anniversary.
The company announced the news on the Category 2 channel's website, alluding to lack of growth and profit. "We as broadcasters are sometimes left with difficult choices," it reads. "With the decision to discontinue CoolTV, we can now invest more in the channels that have the greatest potential and look forward to bringing our viewers more great specialty programming in the future."
