Boxer Media, B-Scene to rep Men's Health
Toronto-based Boxer Media and B-Scene Media have become the Canadian representatives for the world's most popular lifestyle monthly among male readers - Men's Health - as well as its web version, MensHealth.com.
Boasting 38 editions worldwide, the publication's circulation in Canada exceeds 126,000 copies per month. And the magazine's website, says Mark Boxer, is "a powerhouse brand online [and] a results-oriented media vehicle that is a direct route to the hearts, souls and wallets of Canadian men. Every month, we provide our audience with actionable and interactive content that helps them be healthier, smarter, fashionable, more confident at work and more successful in their relationships. It's the established go-to source for men."
OOH transit ad resources get revamped
Canada's OOH operators are launching a new planning strategy for transit advertising, to be known as the Transit Reach Frequency Model. CBS Outdoor, Lamar Outdoor, Metromedia Plus and Pattison Outdoor have devoted three years of cooperative investment to develop the approach.
Advertisers will be able to fine-tune their transit campaigns with the aid of BBM/RTS: RAE, through which they will have access to specific demographic data, product usage information, lifestyle and media habits and more. The project will enable users to plan or analyze their campaigns in detail, either individually or as part of a media mix.
To create a campaign that targets the client's unique market, agencies and advertisers will be able to compare reach and frequency deliveries on any campaign, number of panels, GRPs on CMA or specific transit system footprints among major Canadian cities.
UpTrend signs the sassy girl's city site
SheDoestheCity.com has joined the ranks of sites represented by Toronto-based UpTrend Media. The site targets witty, smart and stylish women and reaches about 10,000 Canadians per month. It launched in November 2007.
Founded by Jen McNeely, SheDoesTheCity is like the twisted sister of girly websites in Toronto, serving up everything from event listings to style advice. McNeely says her goal for the site was "to bring a little more edge and spice to women's web."
UpTrend Media's network now reaches about 11 million Canadians monthly, reports the company. (See MiC's coverage of the company's previous representation deals.)

Comedy Network delivers laughter for Canada Day
To help viewers celebrate Canada's 141st birthday, CTVglobemedia's Comedy Network is airing specials featuring Canadian comedians Brent Butt and Jeremy Hotz, as well as a full week of Canadian-themed episodes of The Simpsons and South Park. Among the voices of the animated characters in season one are Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Frank Black (the Pixies), Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) and members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
