Nike scores Vancouver's biggest OOH coup
Vancouver-based out-of-home agency Brand Aid Media reports that it has launched the single largest posting ever completed in that market. The installation covers the side of an office building and reads: "One Day. Ten Million Kilometers. Race the World."
The ad is part of the Nike campaign developed by Cossette Toronto to promote the global "Human Race" initiative, taking place in Vancouver on August 31. The Cossette and Brand Aid Media's previous Nike work, including the Nike Barge, won several awards including an OBIE.
The Nike+ Human Race offers runners across the globe the chance to compete together on the same day. The 10k event will span multiple continents and cover 25 cities, including New York, London, Madrid, Paris, Istanbul, Melbourne, Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. The goal for participation is one million runners worldwide. Canadian runners not located in Vancouver can participate in their hometowns by registering at nikeplus.com.

Notes from the mediascape: Sears taps social scene for back-to-school push
Retailer Sears has jumped on the social networking bandwagon to promote its "Don't Just Go Back. Arrive" school gear campaign for tweens and teens.
Thirteen social networking/virtual world sites have partnered with Sears to offer kid visitors custom animation, virtual world and social networking apps via the retailer's hub www.arrivelounge.com.
The site features exclusive, interactive content from the entire Sears 2008 back-to-school product lines as well as a High School Musical sweepstakes, and the host of online partners includes Disney, Nickelodeon, gofish.com and MySpace.
Y&R Chicago (Sears' AOR) did the creative for this initiative, while media was handled by the retailer's media AOR, MPG NY/Chicago, and Boston's Media Contacts. Chicago's Whitman Hart worked with Media Contacts on the online elements.
