New mag targets female biz pros
HEART Business Journal for Women is a new national magazine aimed at female Canadian professionals and published by founder/editor-in-chief Brenda Wood, who operates London, ON-based EKG Marketing.
Launched in June, the publication reports on the latest business trends along with health and wellness issues. With a circulation of 50,000 copies and 94 pages in its first issue (104 pages in the second), it will be published six times per year.
Involved in promoting the launch are national radio, TV (A-Channel in September) and print (local London newspapers). Major advertisers in the first issue include Coca-Cola and Scotch Bright. Creative for the ads was developed by London's EKG Marketing with Cossette Toronto.
The magazine was preceded by a website - launched in August 2007 - which contains articles, contests and interviews. Now a complement to the magazine, the site has up to 10,000 unique monthly visitors.
The print version is being distributed in banks, financial institutions, Toronto's Pearson International Airport, a half-dozen private aircraft terminals, executive health centres, spas and large corporations.
Wood launched HEART Business Journal for Women while simultaneously operating EKG Marketing. Before founding EKG in 2001, she worked on some of Canada's biggest brands.
