Fringe to bow with triple simulcast

The much-anticipated new sci-fi series Fringe - from Lost producer J.J. Abrams - will kick off next month with a one-time promo stunt: it will be simulcast on CTV, A channel and Fox. It will also air in Alberta on Access.

Starring BC native Joshua Jackson (pictured - Dawson's Creek), the show is about a trio who work to uncover the truth behind "fringe science." It will arrive on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 8 pm, moving to its regular A channel time slot on Tuesdays at 9 pm starting Sept. 16.

"This scheduling move is about creating the biggest opportunity for viewers to see the show that everyone's been talking about," says Susanne Boyce, president of creative, content and channels at CTV. "Fringe will keep viewers on the edge of their seats as it explores the line between science fiction and reality."

In the premiere, special agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv, Mistresses, McLeod's Daughters) searches for someone to help after her partner (Mark Valley, Boston Legal) is nearly killed during an investigation of a plane with dead passengers. She finds Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble, Pirate Islands: The Lost Treasures of Fiji) - an Einstein-type figure who's been institutionalized for the last 17 years. The only way to question him requires the help of his estranged son Peter (Jackson).
