Calgarians can now check the Herald on their iPhones
Canwest's Calgary Herald recently launched a new beta version of an iPhone-optimized site - skinny, simple and in HTML for fast and easy web-browsing - with prominent ad space on every index page. Since its debut two weeks ago, the site has had approximately 3,000 page views a day.
Calgary-based WestJet Airlines was a launch sponsor with prominent leader board and splash page ads, Steve Buors, VP of Local Digital Media (a division of Canwest Publishing), tells MiC.
iPhone consumers can browse the mobile site by visiting the Calgary Herald's site, where they will be redirected to www.canada.com/calgaryherald/iphone. The site is also designed for Mac's Safari browser. Promotional material for the site includes print and online ads done in-house.
