ScoreMobile launches Score Predictor

Just in time for NHL hockey, Score Media's ScoreMobile is launching its new mobile fantasy sports application, Score Predictor, today. The app enables fans to text in score predictions on three games per day, per league. Best guesses get screen time on The Score Television Network and are eligible to win weekly prizes, including a 50" plasma TV.

Developed by Toronto-based MyThum Interactive, the application offers multi-platform ad and sponsorship opportunities on national television and through mobile return-text features. To participate in the game, viewers simply text in their score predictions and the winner's nickname will appear on national television.

Sponsorship messages get screen time up to 20 times in the hours leading up to a game (4 pm-7 pm EST) and afterwards (11 pm-1 am EST) - a plus, if you're in Western Canada where that also means prime time. Score Media's enriched screen feature also means that the picture's main video signal is compressed to 40% of its regular screen size, leaving 60% of the real estate for user generated content like moderated live chats, and election or opinion polls, where advertisers and sponsors can get in on the action.

Deeper engagement with audiences participating in the Score Predictor game is also made possible by the app's "return path messaging" feature, whereby score predictions get return text updates and results linked to various advertiser calls to actions, ranging from product samples and coupons to contest entries.

"Your mobile is now a remote control device," Dale Fallon, director, mobile, Score Media tells MiC. "Score Predictor brings a very public social dimension to fantasy sports, which are usually played online. The convenience of SMS messaging combined with the broad reach of television is something that our fans crave and that's why we've created this unique offering."

The Score Television Network is available in over 6.4 million households in Canada.
