ABC and CTV are shelving Defying Gravity, though both networks say that the remaining episodes of the space drama will air sometime in the future.

ABC is taking the cross-border series off its schedule after airing eight episodes on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET. Beginning Sept. 27, the new season of Brothers & Sisters returns to the time slot.

CTV took Defying Gravity out of simulcast several weeks ago, moving it to Fridays at 10 p.m. The network will air its ninth and last episode this week. CTV communications manager Jim Quan reports that beginning Sept. 25, the new season of Flashpoint will move into the slot. He adds that the remaining four episodes of Defying Gravity will air at a later date on CTV, with dates and times still to be confirmed.

Space, which shared the series with its parent CTV, will broadcast the four last episodes of the Fox TV Studios/Omni Film Productions co-venture in its regular Friday 8 p.m. time slot.

In a statement, ABC indicated plans to broadcast its five remaining episodes once a place is found in the schedule. The U.S. network hasn't officially cancelled the series, though based on its lacklustre ratings (averaging 2.5 million viewers), it isn't expected to be renewed.
