Astral Radio launches ringtone superstore

Ringtone lovers now have another store from which to purchase and download their oh-so-cool incoming call tunes. Astral Media Radio has just launched 61215.ca - The Mobile Superstore, a multi-operator mobile downloads site.

Compatible with Bell, Rogers and Telus, ringtones selected and promoted on the air at Astral Media Radio stations - 82 across Canada - are available for purchase (at the cost of $3.50 through SMS). Other goodies include wacky wallpaper and content like TAC.tv ringtones, as well as exclusive "Answer your phone!" messages produced by Astral Radio hosts. Plans for customizable "branded" ringtones are currently in the works as part of the brand promotions.

The boutique site comes with opportunities for branded ad opps including customized banner ads, as well as on-air live and pre-recorded mentions.

"SMS and radio go so well together because they're both instant medias," Erick Flaux, Astral Media Radio internet and mobile service coordinator, tells MiC. "Radio is always live, and with SMS there is an immediate response, so the interactions are maximized."

Also launched is 61215.ca - La boutique mobile in markets across Quebec where AMR operates.
